RLFA
Preview Knitting

Knitting should be enjoyable.

Yes, even when you're knitting to a deadline. My preview knitting experience is designed to be an enjoyable knitting experience with all the support you need to create your dream project.

You love trying new patterns and the thrill of being the first. You're genuinely invested in helping designers (like me) bring new patterns to publication. Or maybe you just want a pattern for FREE.

If any or all of the above are true, then preview knitting may be your cup of tea. It doesn't matter whether you've done it a million times or none at all, there's a place for you at the RLFA knitting table. Some come on in, the water's fine, and none of us bite too hard.

YOU'RE IN THE RIGHT PLACE.

If you're looking for:

A sense of community

All preview knits are run in Slack where participants can chat and share about their projects in the style of a knit-a-long.

responsive pattern support

Slack allows for quick resolution of questions as you work through a pattern. Help often comes from others working through the pattern.

Quality patterns pre-publication

All of my patterns are thoroughly graded and tech edited before they enter the preview knitting phase.

GREAT NEWS.
I can help with that.

The success of a preview knitting experience depends largely on clear expectations between designer and knitter. That's why I let you know up front what I expect from you and what you can expect from me during the process.

Thank you for the opportunity to test knit for you! My daughter loved this sweater so much that she claimed it 😊 So I think if a 13-year old loves your design then you are on the right track! 😊

— Nina, preview knitter

This was a wonderful and amazing experience for my first test knit! Thank you so much for having me and I hope one day in the future I can test for you again! :)

— abigail, preview knitter

This is a beautiful pattern. Thank you for letting me test knit and for being gracious with my timeline mistakes.

— blythe, preview knitter

I appreciate your allowing me to test this design via email, as I'm not a Slack user. Thus project has received many envious comments from those in my knitting group., only one of whom has successfully completed a brioche project.

— carol, preview knitter

I liked the no-rush, laid-back atmosphere of the test knitting. The timeline was very generous. Overall, the chat felt a little quiet, but whenever I needed support or advice, I got it from both Ethan and the lovely testers community. This is probably my most favorite me-made garment ever.

— masha, preview knitter
